Icom 706 mk2 G Power Levels
25th September 2021The Icom 706 is a superb little shack-in-the-box. However its not the most refined at giving an indication of output power from the options available.
The user manual shows output in the range:
5-100w (1.8Mhz to 50Mhz)
5-50w (144Mhz)
2-20w (430Mhz)
Fortunately a ham radio operator Gary, K9ZMD did some experiments putting a CW signal into a power meter and then into his dummy load and it resulted in the following for HF.
L | 5-6w |
1 | 7-9w |
2 | 10-15w |
3 | 16-24w |
4 | 25-35w |
5 | 36-49w |
6 | 50-65w |
7 | 66-79w |
8 | 80-94w |
9 | 95-100w |
H | 100w |
Unfortunately I cannot find any information on how the power levels relate to 2m or the 70cm bands. Maybe one of our club members can bring their 706 in one evening and we can conduct those tests ourselves.
